Football Game Preview: Berean Academy Eagles vs. Ajo Red Raiders

After both having extra time off, the Berean Academy Eagles and the Ajo Red Raiders will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Ajo will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Berean Academy extended their winning streak to five two weeks ago. The Eagles took their matchup with ease, bagging a 53-14 victory over Skyline - Gila River. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 28 points or more this season.

PRESTON SCHERRER was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 122 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards and one score. Another player making a difference was JOHNNY TORRES, who rushed for 93 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Berean Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 257 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Berean Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Ajo got the win against Skyline - Gila River back in September by a conclusive 34-12.

Berean Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Ajo, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Berean Academy against Ajo in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 38-6 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
