Volleyball Recap: Fair Grove Eagles vs. Strafford Indians

After flying high against Reeds Spring on Tuesday, Fair Grove came back down to earth. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Strafford Indians on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Thursday.

Despite the loss, Fair Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor Waltz had 27 assists and eight digs. Waltz has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last six times she's played.

Strafford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Payten Coulter out in front who had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces Coulter has posted over her last six contests. Another player making a difference was Brooklynne Lumley, who had nine digs and four assists.

Fair Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 19-12-3. As for Strafford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-4-2.

Fair Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Strafford, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Logan-Rogersville on the 25th.
