Volleyball Game Preview: Ventura Cougars vs. Rio Mesa Spartans

Ventura hasn't had much luck against Rio Mesa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will take on the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Ventura's tournament run continued when they took on Foothill Tech on Saturday. The Cougars took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons.

Meanwhile, Rio Mesa lost 3-0 to Oaks Christian on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 25-12.

Ventura's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Rio Mesa, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-13.

Ventura came up short against Rio Mesa when the teams last played on April 1st, falling 3-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
