Whetstone's five-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They took down Horizon Science Academy 42-27. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Whetstone has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Columbus International scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 73-43 victory over Linden-McKinley at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Columbus International has posted since December 14, 2023.
Columbus International found their leader in underclassman Leila Carter, who dropped a triple-double on 44 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 steals. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least a third of Columbus International's points. Another player making a difference was Annazai Ingram-cross, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
Whetstone's win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for Columbus International, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Whetstone came up short against Columbus International in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 47-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carter, who dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 18 rebounds, and 12 steals.
