Squalicum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 27-23 to the Meridian Trojans. On the bright side, the 23- run effort marked the Storm's highest-scoring match to date.

Laela Staniford was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. Staniford is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeley Meling, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBI.

Squalicum's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Meridian, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.

Squalicum didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-6 loss against Lynden on the 31st. As for Meridian, they have also already played their next game, a 19-0 defeat against Ferndale on the 31st.
