Basketball Game Preview: Rangeview Raiders vs. Valor Christian Eagles

Rangeview is on a 19-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Valor Christian is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rangeview Raiders will host the Valor Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rangeview knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Valor Christian likes a good challenge.

Rangeview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They managed a 75-69 victory over Regis Jesuit.

Rangeview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marceles Duncan, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. Duncan has been hot recently, having also posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Archie Weatherspoon V was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Meanwhile, Valor Christian faced Ralston Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Valor Christian came out on top against Ralston Valley by a score of 72-59.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Cole Scherer and Tanner Braketa. Scherer had a great game and dropped a double-double with 28 points and 11 boards. Meanwhile, Braketa was balling out in the loss, earning 22 points.

Valor Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Rangeview's victory bumped their record up to 26-0.

Rangeview came out on top in a nail-biter against Valor Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, sneaking past 76-74. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Valor Christian's Asher Weiner, who shot 47% from the field en route to 22 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
