Basketball Game Preview: Cooper Bulldogs vs. Cumby Trojans

Cooper has gone 8-0 against Cumby recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cooper Bulldogs will welcome the Cumby Trojans at 6:15 p.m. Cooper will be strutting in after a victory while Cumby will be coming in after a defeat.

Cooper is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cooper blew Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy out of the water with a 54-12 final score. With the Bulldogs ahead 32-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cooper to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shantel Walker, who posted 14 points. That's the most points Walker has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kelci Sonntag, who put up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Cumby was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 32-31 to Boles. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cooper has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Cumby, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Everything came up roses for Cooper against Cumby in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 61-20 win. In that match, Cooper amassed a halftime lead of 33-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
