Basketball Game Preview: Wildwood Wolves vs. New Roads Jaguars

Wildwood is 2-8 against New Roads since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Wildwood Wolves will look to defend their home court against the New Roads Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. Wildwood will be strutting in after a win while New Roads will be coming in after a defeat.

Wildwood is coming into the contest on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They walked away with a 48-37 win over Lennox Academy on Wednesday.

Wildwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tiger Knowles led the charge by going 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Bowden Eley, who went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Wildwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, New Roads played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Vistamar, falling 74-42. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

New Roads' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Wildwood, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.

Wildwood was able to grind out a solid win over New Roads in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 54-47. Does Wildwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Roads turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
