Volleyball Recap: Branford Hornets vs. Law Lawmen

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lauralton Hall, Branford was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Law Lawmen with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Branford took every set by at least 11 points. After all that action, the final score was 25-14, 25-12, 25-14.

It was another big night for Julianne Henkel, who had five aces and 25 assists. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Santos, who had eight kills, six digs, and two aces.

Santos wasn't the only one working in the aces department: Branford was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Branford's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Law, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Branford will venture away from home to take on Cheshire at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Law, they will head out to face off against Amity Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Amity Regional will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Law surely won't give up without a fight.
