Softball Recap: Apex Friendship's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Apex Friendship entered their tilt with Green Hope on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 13-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-3 back in March.

Riley Weaver made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Weaver was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Apex Friendship let Sydney Joyce and Brianna Spero run wild. Joyce went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Spero went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Spero, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Apex Friendship pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Green Hope, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apex Friendship will face off against Willow Spring at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Green Hope, they will square off against Panther Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
