Volleyball Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Spanish Fork Dons

Maple Mountain faced Spanish Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Dons 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Eagles sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Maple Mountain wouldn't go down easily and took Spanish Fork into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 15-7.

Trey Thornton paced Maple Mountain's offense, picking up 28 kills. Thornton got some help from Taft Hillman and his 45 assists. Finally, Abe Hawkins kept Maple Mountain's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.
