Shorecrest hadn't done well against Meadowdale recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Scots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Mavericks. This was a revenge game for the Scots: when they faced off against the Mavericks back in April, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Claire Maxwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lyla Ann Taing was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Natalie Fernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Shorecrest's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Meadowdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Shorecrest is set to take on their familiar foe Lynnwood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Meadowdale will face off against rival Shorewood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
