Recap: Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints vs. Horizon Christian Academy Warriors
On Friday, The Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints faced the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy took down Horizon Christian Academy 50-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Lucas Scheffer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 227 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Scheffer is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Ahmad, who picked up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Blake Willoughby and his two sacks.
Despite the loss, Horizon Christian Academy had strong showings from Nathan Hernandez, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and Hunter Beenken, who picked up 225 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Hernandez's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38 points. As for Horizon Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy will take on Peachtree Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Peachtree Academy is ranked 22nd, while Johnson Ferry Christian Academy is ranked 16th). Horizon Christian Academy will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Fideles Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
