Basketball Recap: C.B. Aycock Skates Past South Johnston with Ease

C.B. Aycock waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They really took it to the South Johnston Trojans for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-24 win. The Golden Falcons pushed the score to 39-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had little chance of recovering from.

C.B. Aycock got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison Smith out in front who went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Those 16 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alonna Frederick, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points and seven boards.

C.B. Aycock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

C.B. Aycock pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points per game. As for South Johnston, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
