Baseball Game Preview: Riverside Beavers vs. St. Edward Eagles

The Riverside Beavers are taking a road trip to square off against the St. Edward Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Riverside will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Riverside got the win against Kirtland by a conclusive 18-2. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mason Pozo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Baker, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mo Dolce, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, St. Edward posted their closest win since May 21, 2024 on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Normandy 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Riverside pushed their record up to 17-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for St. Edward, their record is now 14-11.

Riverside couldn't quite finish off St. Edward when the teams last played back in April and fell 8-6. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
