Softball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Takes a Loss

If Archbishop Mitty was riding high fresh off their 13-6 takedown of Presentation last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monarchs fell just short of the Valley Christian Warriors by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in April.

Kyleigh Mace was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Archbishop Mitty saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adelle Duncan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Duncan's first of the season.

Archbishop Mitty's loss dropped their record down to 12-6-1. As for Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Archbishop Mitty has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against St. Ignatius College Preparatory on the 9th. As for Valley Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-0 victory against Presentation on the 9th.
