Softball Game Preview: Everglades City Gators vs. East Lee County Jaguars

The Everglades City Gators will head out on the road to challenge the East Lee County Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Everglades City has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Everglades City is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Seacrest Country Day, falling 12-6.

Ava Ramos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Miranda O'Connell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, East Lee County lost 22-7 to Cape Coral on Tuesday.

Sophia Meixsell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Savannah Negron, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Everglades City now has a losing record of 6-7. As for East Lee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Everglades City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .526. However, it's not like East Lee County struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everglades City took their victory against East Lee County in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 19-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
