With high school football heating up in the state of Texas, nearly every team has played four games. Ten players have already exceeded 800 rushing yards and the top rusher on our state rushing yardage leaderboard has topped 1,000 yards.
Tate Maruska of
Stephenville leads the Lone Star State with 1,057 rushing yards. The junior has three straight games of at least 280 rushing yards, including a 284-yard, five-touchdown performance in a 56-49 win over Wylie last week. Maruska averages 8.8 yards a carry.
Jose Garcia of
Mineral Wells crossed the 1,000-yard barrier after rushing for 177 yards last week. The junior has 1,033 yards this season including a 392-yard, five-touchdown performance in the Rams' second game of the year.
Seth Davis of
Katy is another running back to watch. Davis paces the No. 23 team in the nation with 733 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. The senior Mississippi State commit is 220 yards away from 5,000 in his career.
