Basketball Recap: Jack Lowell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln East over Papillion-Lavista

Lincoln East lost against Papillion-LaVista back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Spartans took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarchs. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly eight points.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Lowell, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points and seven boards. Lowell has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Bryson Windhorst also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Papillion-LaVista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Boudreau, who shot 50% from the field en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. Demarcus McCarty was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Lincoln East and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Papillion-LaVista, their record now sits at 3-1.

Lincoln East has already played their next contest, a 64-56 loss against Pius X on the 13th. As for Papillion-LaVista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-58 defeat against Skutt Catholic on the 13th.
