Basketball Recap: Hampton Christian Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

If Denbigh Baptist Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hampton Christian Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Mahdy Sigler. The Hampton Christian Academy Warriors came out on top against the Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen by a score of 42-29 on Friday thanks in part to Sigler, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played.

Despite the defeat, Denbigh Baptist Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Julia Kinney dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards set a new season-high mark for Kinney. Khalia Boyd also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The victory (which was Hampton Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton Christian Academy will host Atlantic Shores Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hampton Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Portsmouth Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
