Recap: Classical Saints vs. Waverly Bulldogs
The Classical Saints waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They managed a 55-50 victory over Waverly. Given Classical's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Waverly is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Charlie Graham, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Wilkey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Classical's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Waverly, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Classical didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-39 win vs. School of the Ozarks on the 10th. Waverly has also already played their next matchup, a 53-36 loss against Chase County on the 9th.
