On Thursday, Catholic faced Mandeville in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Catholic Bears came out on top against the Mandeville Skippers by a score of 6-2. The win was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won five games in a row.

Lucas Lawrence tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Ruckert was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two runs, the most he's had over his last 12 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Clapinski, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Catholic's record now sits at 14-3. As for Mandeville, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mandeville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
