Baseball Game Preview: Pallotti Panthers vs. Concordia Prep Saints

The Pallotti Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Concordia Prep Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Concordia Prep took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pallotti, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Pallotti beat Friends 7-3. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Quakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Steven Buckner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Pallotti is undefeated when Buckner posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-7 otherwise. Gus Chackmakian-Lodge was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Concordia Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch back in March as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Frances Academy.

Concordia Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Couser, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another was Owen Feltz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Pallotti pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Concordia Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Pallotti skirted past Concordia Prep 6-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
