It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Cape Fear Colts had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They breezed by the Trojans at home to the tune of 85-51. Jayda Angel was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 41 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cape Fear's points. Another player making a difference was Kayia Starling, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
The victory (which was Cape Fear's 16th in a row) raised their record to 25-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for South Johnston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.
Cape Fear has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Eastern Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on March 1st.
