Softball Game Preview: Alamo Heights Mules vs. Wagner Thunderbirds

The Alamo Heights Mules will square off against the Wagner Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Alamo Heights fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against New Braunfels on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Unicorns by a score of 11-10.

Elle Leavitt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Hawkins, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Wagner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They lost 20-1 to Boerne-Champion.

Alamo Heights' loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Wagner, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.

Everything went Alamo Heights' way against Wagner when the teams last played back in March, as Alamo Heights made off with an 18-1 victory. Will the Mules repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
