Chester won the last time they faced Burney and things went their way on Thursday too. The Volcanoes walked away with a 3-1 win over the Raiders.

Chester had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 10-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Emma Latta-Shaw paced Chester's offense, picking up nine kills. Latta-Shaw got some help from Jenna Schlueter and her 13 assists. Schlueter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Burney's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Witzel, who had 55 digs, ten kills, and three blocks. Witzel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 20 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ciera Wilson, who had 52 digs and three assists.

Chester's victory bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Burney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Chester is set to square off against their familiar foe CORE Butte at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Burney will challenge rival Los Molinos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
