Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Ballston Spa couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Niskayuna Silver Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Scotties' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Kyle Fives was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

On the hitting side, Michael Pritchard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ballston Spa's defeat dropped their record down to 17-3. As for Niskayuna, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
