Football Recap: Anthony Hatchett Leads Wharton's Defense on Friday

Worthing came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Wharton, but Ja'Keon Jackson wouldn't allow it. The Tigers enjoyed a cozy 32-14 victory over the Colts on Friday for which the team can thank Jackson, who rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a pair of TDs. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 68 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wharton's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Anthony Hatchett was the leader with three. Wharton received some extra help from Jase Ramos, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win got Wharton back to even at 1-1. As for Worthing, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wharton will face off against Houston Math Science & Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Worthing, they will take on Kashmere at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Colts their first taste of in-conference action this season.
