Baseball Recap: 13 Straight Home Victories for Sanford

Sanford got themselves on the board against Wilmington Friends on Tuesday, but Wilmington Friends never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Quakers. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won six in a row.

Alex Gannon made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Gannon was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Cole Ruhland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

Sanford pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wilmington Friends, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sanford will challenge Tatnall at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilmington Friends, they will face off against Concord at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Quakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
