Seneca has gone 8-2 against De Soto recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Indians will welcome the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Seneca 1, De Soto 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Seneca's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Kickapoo with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jackson Konichek and Briar Wall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Konichek tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wall didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. At bat, Konichek scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Wall went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Wall hit this season.
In other batting news, Hunter Hagensick and Dawson Davidson did most of the damage at the plate: Hagensick scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Davidson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Hagensick also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Tucker Ducharme was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, De Soto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Royall, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Pirates, who until this game were averaging 3.8 runs allowed.
Griffin Hanson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
The win made it two in a row for Seneca and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for De Soto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
De Soto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Seneca has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .544. It's a different story for De Soto, though, as they've only averaged .286. Will they be able to contain Seneca's hitters?
Seneca beat De Soto 6-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
