Preview: Elmwood-Murdock Knights vs. Mead Raiders

Elmwood-Murdock is 10-0 against Mead since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will head out on the road to take on the Mead Raiders at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elmwood-Murdock has 12 straight wins, Mead has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Elmwood-Murdock ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 43-37 W over Freeman.

It was another big night for Laney Frahm, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Backemeyer, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Mead struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (Weeping Water had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mead was dealt a 60-18 loss at the hands of Weeping Water. While losing is never fun, Mead can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Weeping Water is ranked 122nd).

Riley Koranda was Mead's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Elmwood-Murdock pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Mead, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.

Everything came up roses for Elmwood-Murdock against Mead in their previous matchup last Tuesday as the squad secured a 61-5 win. With Elmwood-Murdock ahead 41-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.
