Softball Game Preview: Hillsboro Spartans vs. Aloha Warriors

The Hillsboro Spartans will take on the Aloha Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Hillsboro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Newberg, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-3 win on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Aloha never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Lakeridge 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Abby Dimeo and Nalana Warfield did most of the damage at the plate: Dimeo went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Warfield scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That double marked the first that Dimeo hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Sweatman, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Aloha was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Aloha and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Hillsboro, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
