The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Wright City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hannibal, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hannibal beat Wright City by a score of 7-1 later that day.
