Basketball Recap: Nolan Vancott Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Ferguson + How To Watch

The Mater Academy Charter Lions earned a 76-64 win over the Ferguson Falcons on Wednesday. The Lions pushed the score to 64-42 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.

Mater Academy Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nolan Vancott out in front who shot 67% from the field to rack up 16 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahi Lopez, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shawn Davaro, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jose Bueno, who earned 14 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Mater Academy Charter has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 63.5 points this season. As for Ferguson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Mater Academy Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-23 victory against Braddock on the 21st. As for Ferguson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-65 loss against Archbishop Carroll on the 21st.
