Softball Recap: Anderson County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oliver Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anderson County). They put the hurt on the Oliver Springs Bobcats with a sharp 12-4 victory on Friday. While the Mavericks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kaycee Baldwin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Miranda McCracken also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Anderson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Anderson County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Oliver Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Anderson County will welcome Coalfield at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Coalfield's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Anderson County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oliver Springs, they will venture away from home to face off against Hardin Valley Academy at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
