Baseball Recap: St. John Paul II Takes a Loss

St. John Paul II fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lindsay Lane Christian Academy on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by just one run.

Joey Ross and Andrew Lang did some serious damage despite the final result: Ross scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Lang scored a run while going 3-for-3.

St. John Paul II dropped their record down to 7-17 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John Paul II will take on Huntsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, they will face off against Whitesburg Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
