Basketball Recap: Central Jaguars vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors
Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 73-46 loss at the hands of the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-38 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carson Baxley went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Baxley has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brock Reeves, who posted seven points.
Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.
West Florida Baptist Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaleb Wiggins, who went 8 for 15 en route to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Wiggins is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Shepard Brown was another key player, going 8 of 14 on his way to 21 points and six boards.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-4.
Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-55 defeat against Chipley on the 31st. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-37 victory against Atmore Christian on the 30th.
