Recap: Thornton Wildcats vs. Niles North Vikings
The Thornton Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 67-60 victory over Niles North. Given Thornton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Niles North is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morez Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Meyoh Swansey was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Thornton is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Niles North, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
Thornton will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Thornwood at 6:30 p.m. Niles North will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Niles West at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
