Football Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

Mitchell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Brandon Valley Lynx, falling 49-7. While losing is never fun, the Kernels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota football rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Lynx are ranked second).

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Brandon Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Coming up, Mitchell will host Huron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so the Kernels' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Brandon Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Harrisburg at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lynx will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
