Preview: Crosby Cougars vs. Goose Creek Memorial Patriots

The Crosby Cougars will be playing at home against the Goose Creek Memorial Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Crosby lost to La Porte on the road by a decisive 43-27 margin. Despite 209 more yards than La Porte, Crosby couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Defeat or not, Crosby got some senior leadership from Levi Fontenot who gained 122 total yards and two touchdowns and Kade Eudy who threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Goose Creek Memorial's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Sterling 43-13. Goose Creek Memorial was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.

Crosby's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-1 Longview and 7-2 Fort Bend Marshall (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.2% over those games). As for Goose Creek Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything came up roses for Crosby against Goose Creek Memorial when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 59-13 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Goose Creek Memorial's Isaiah Castillo, who rushed for 155 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Crosby to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
