Baseball Game Preview: Oratory Prep Rams vs. Brearley Bears

Oratory Prep and Brearley are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Rams will welcome the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oratory Prep has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Brearley will come in with five straight wins.

On Thursday, Oratory Prep came up short against Cranford and fell 6-2.

Oratory Prep got a good showing from Will Kostka, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Kostka has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gus Grove made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Patrick Keown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Brearley hadn't beaten Elizabeth on the road since April 18, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Minutemen, sneaking past 2-1.

Brearley now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Oratory Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.

Oratory Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Brearley in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
