Softball Game Preview: Soldotna Stars vs. Sitka Wolves

The Soldotna Stars will take on the Sitka Wolves at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Soldotna is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Kodiak as they made off with a 14-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stars.

Meanwhile, Sitka faced Ketchikan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolves blew past the Kings 9-2. The victory was nothing new for the Wolves as they're now sitting on six straight.

Sitka pushed their record up to 20-14-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Soldotna, their win bumped their record up to 18-4-1.

Soldotna suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Sitka in their previous matchup on Thursday. Can the Stars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
