Baseball Recap: Moline Takes a Loss

Moline had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 15-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Normal Community Ironmen, falling 12-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Maroons have suffered since March 22nd.

As for Normal Community, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-4. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Normal Community's part, Lucas Beaty looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Beaty has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Heineman, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Drew Stevens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moline will face off against Galesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Normal Community, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Urbana at 4:30 p.m.
