Basketball Recap: Wheatland Takes a Loss

Wheatland was the 63-41 winner over Newcastle when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wheatland Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 44-43 to the Newcastle Dogies.

Wheatland's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Newcastle, their win bumped their record up to 2-10.

The future could be bright for both Wheatland and Newcastle: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Wheatland will try to hand Rock River their ninth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Newcastle will look to extend Burns' five-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
