Football Recap: West Springfield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Woodson + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Springfield). They took down the Woodson Cavaliers 41-23 on Friday. The Spartans pushed the score to 41-9 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cavaliers cut but never quite recovered from.

West Springfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dillan Wickham, who rushed for 162 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Wickham's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 136 rushing yards. Scott Lewis was another key passer, throwing for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Springfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

The victory (which was West Springfield's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.7 points over those games. As for Woodson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Springfield will head out to challenge Yorktown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Woodson, they will venture away from home to take on Lake Braddock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
