Recap: Caprock Academy Eagles vs. Rangely Panthers
The Caprock Academy Eagles lost against the Rangely Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Caprock Academy had to suffer through a rough 81-18 loss at the hands of Rangely. Caprock Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-12.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Sarai Rea and
Paige Moore, who each put up five points.
Taylor Phillips took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rangely to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryann Mergelman, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Emmeree Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Caprock Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Rangely, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Caprock Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-37 victory vs. Ridgway on the 12th. Rangely will be playing at home against Vail Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
