Basketball Game Preview: Arlington Cardinals vs. Elkton/Lake Benton Elks

Arlington and Elkton/Lake Benton are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Arlington Cardinals will be playing at home against the Elkton/Lake Benton Elks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arlington will be strutting in after a win while Elkton/Lake Benton will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Arlington strolled past Deuel with points to spare, taking the game 56-39.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 63 points the game before, Elkton/Lake Benton was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They took a blow against St. Mary, falling 70-20. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Cardinals are ranked 14th).

Arlington now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Elkton/Lake Benton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Arlington strolled past Elkton/Lake Benton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 54-37. Will Arlington repeat their success, or does Elkton/Lake Benton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
