Baseball Game Preview: Saugus Centurions vs. Walnut Mustangs

The Saugus Centurions will challenge the Walnut Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Saugus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Saugus' last matchup with Paraclete could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest last Monday. The Centurions came up short against the Spirits, falling 13-6.

Abraham Ramirez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Saugus: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least one home run, but 10-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Daniel Dacosta, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Walnut entered their tilt with Diamond Bar two weeks ago with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Brahmas.

Walnut now has a winning record of 14-13-1. As for Saugus, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-14.
