Football Recap: Sandia Matadors vs. Rio Rancho Rams

Sandia and Rio Rancho squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Sandia had to settle for second. They were dealt a 47-17 defeat at the hands of the Rio Rancho Rams. The Matadors haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Jj Arellano was his usual excellent self, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes for Rio Rancho. Arellano's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Jace Pitt was Arellano's top target, picking up 181 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Sandia now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Rio Rancho, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Sandia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rio Rancho, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 43-17 loss against Centennial on the 15th.
