Basketball Recap: Southern Regional Victorious

Southern Regional's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 victory over the Manchester Township Hawks. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Hawks are ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Manchester Township, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Southern Regional will welcome Donovan Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Donovan Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Manchester Township, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-42 defeat against St. John-Vianney on the 25th.
